Building the evidence for the future

Preparing a Local Planning Scheme is a long-term process that begins well before a draft scheme is prepared.

The Preliminary Work stage builds the evidence needed to prepare the draft Local Planning Scheme. While not required under planning legislation, the City has chosen to engage with the community early so local knowledge, technical investigations and feedback can help inform the draft before it enters the formal statutory process.

The key components of the Preliminary Work are outlined below, followed by a timeline of the investigations, engagement activities and milestones completed to date.
