The City of Melville is reviewing Local Planning Scheme No. 6 (LPS6), which guides how land is used and developed across the City.
Under the Planning and Development Act 2005, local planning schemes must be reviewed periodically to ensure they remain current, respond to changing community needs and align with State planning requirements.
A key focus of the review is planning for future growth. With the City expected to accommodate approximately 18,000 additional dwellings by 2050, the review will help determine where and how future housing, employment and community infrastructure should be planned.
Since 2021, the community has helped shape the review by identifying key issues and providing feedback at key stages of the review. During the 2024 engagement, the City received 669 submissions. This feedback, together with technical studies and further planning work, has helped refine the proposed changes now being presented for community feedback.
There are several ways to get involved. Whether you'd like to provide feedback online, attend an event, speak with a planner or express your interest in joining the Community Focus Group, there's an option to suit you.
Select the tabs below to learn more about each opportunity and choose the option that works best for you.
Feedback on the proposed changes closes Monday, 31 August 2026.
Need assistance? If you have any questions about the engagement process or need help preparing your submission, please contact us on 1300 635 845 or email LPS6-Review@melville.wa.gov.au.
The map below has been designed to make it easier to explore proposed changes and provide feedback. View the information below, then choose the guide that best matches what you would like to do.
