What we will do
- Increase young people’s sense of belonging and connectedness to Melville by providing regular social, low-barrier-to-entry events. Work with internal teams and youth organisations to partner on events.
- Explore a format for youth-friendly space(s) in existing Melville facilities and, subject to feasibility, resourcing and annual budget consideration, progress options for a youth place in Melville during the life of this Strategy.
- Ensure large-scale community events are appealing to young people. Review events to include youth activities, young artists / performers.
- Improve young people’s access to our community facilities such as libraries and community centres by offering programs in these places and working with young people on improvements to accessibility and inclusivity.
- Ensure that young people are included in the City’s community reference groups working on strategic plans such as the Reconciliation Action Plan, Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, Community Climate Action Plan, and any new groups created.
