Planning for tomorrow's community
The City of Melville is preparing a Social Infrastructure Needs Assessment to understand the current and future needs of our community. From community centres and libraries to sporting facilities, parks and cultural spaces, the assessment will help identify future priorities and guide investment to ensure our community infrastructure continues to meet the needs of current and future generations.
Social infrastructure plays an important role in creating healthy, connected and vibrant communities. As our population grows and community needs change, it's important to understand whether our existing facilities and services continue to meet the needs of residents today and into the future.
The Social Infrastructure Needs Assessment will provide an evidence-based understanding of current community infrastructure, identify future opportunities and challenges, and help guide long-term planning and investment across the City.
The assessment will consider:
- Community centres and meeting places
- Libraries and learning spaces
- Arts and cultural facilities
- Sporting and recreation facilities
- Parks and public open spaces
- Community services and programs
- Future population growth and demographic trends
Opportunities to get involved
There are currently no opportunities to provide feedback. Community engagement has now concluded and the City is using the feedback received to inform the final assessment.
