Council adopts Cat Amendment Local Law 2026

At its August 2026 meeting, Council considered the public submissions and resolved to make the City of Melville Cat Amendment Local Law 2026.

The City will now complete the required statutory steps, including publishing the amendment local law in the Government Gazette and providing public notice.

Resolution:

That the Council by Absolute Majority Decision:

  1. Considers the public submissions (Attachment 1) received on the City of Melville Cat Amendment Local Law 2026, as required by section 3.12(4) of the Local Government Act 1995; and
  2. Resolves to make the City of Melville Cat Amendment Local Law 2026 (Attachment 2); and
  3. Authorises the affixing of the common seal to the City of Melville Cat Amendment Local Law 2026 (Attachment 2); and
  4. Authorises the Chief Executive Officer in accordance with section 3.12(5) & (6) of the Local Government Act 1995 to:
    1. Publish the City of Melville Cat Amendment Local Law 2026 (Attachment 2) in the Government Gazette; and
    2. Give a copy of the amendment local law to the Departmental CEO’s as required; and
    3. Give local public notice of the publication of the local law; and
    4. In accordance with the Minister’s directions, provide a copy of the local law and required explanatory materials to the Western Australian Parliamentary Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation.
