The site currently operates as consulting rooms with up to two practitioners. The amendment would allow it to operate as a medical centre with:

• Up to 5 health practitioners on site at any one time
• Up to 10 support staff (reception, admin, nursing, specialists)
• Hours: Mon–Fri 7am–6pm, Sat 8am–5pm, closed Sundays and public holidays

A separate development application would still be required before the medical centre could open, which would assess parking, traffic, access and impacts on neighbouring properties.

An independent acoustic report and traffic impact statement were prepared to assess this. The acoustic assessment found the proposal fully complies with State noise regulations at all nearby residences. The traffic assessment found the additional traffic generated (estimated at around 20 extra vehicle movements in the peak hour) can be absorbed by the surrounding road network without significant impact. The medical centre is proposed to operate 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 5pm on Saturday and closed on Sundays and public holidays.

We are engaging with the community via Melville Talks on the City of Melville website and on social media asking for feedback on the proposed amendment.

Letters have been sent to all properties within the immediate area.

The community can make a submission during the engagement period about the proposed amendment via:

• Online, using the submission form below

• By letter to: Chief Executive Officer, City of Melville, Locked Bag 1, Booragoon WA 6954, quoting reference Scheme Amendment 18 - 729 Canning Highway

• In person: 10 Almondbury Road, Booragoon.

All feedback is considered by Council at an Ordinary Meeting of Council for endorsement.

If endorsed the scheme amendment and submissions will then be forwarded to the Western Australian Planning Commission for their consideration.

The final decision rested with the Minister for Planning.
