LoveFest Perth brings together people with dementia, their families and service providers to build further interest and support for creating dementia friendly communities and services. It does this by focusing the importance of love in the lives of people with dementia. LoveFest Perth includes a series of presentations by people with dementia, their families and friends will highlight the importance of human connection, the challenges experienced and strategies to address these. It also includes an exhibition of portraits of local people with dementia kissing someone they love. The exhibition is part of a collection of portraits called The Kiss, with photographs are taken by Lisa White, The Social Photographer.
The program will primarily include presentations by local people living with dementia; and by their family and friends and a number of workshops. Key themes include:
- The impacts of dementia on interpersonal relationships
- Strategies to renegotiate relationships in response to dementia
- The power of letter writing in acknowledging the human experience of dementia
- How belonging matters to people with dementia - and how it can be enhanced
- The intersections between dementia and diversity of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, age
Join us for LoveFest Perth and learn about dementia and dementia friendly communities and services.
